Autumn on the Prairie

The greens of summer are almost all gone now. They have been replaced by tan, yellow, gold and orange. Occasionally a bit of red even pops into the trees, but mostly across I-90 in South Dakota the prairie grass and trees turn gold and orange.

Although, when the sun hits the grass just right it does have a red hue as in this next photo taken not long after sunrise.

Autumn is my favorite season even though we don't get all the rich colors of Autumn. What is Autumn like where you live?

Linking up with Unknown Mami for Sunday In My City. I hope you will join the virtual travel and add your own area to the destination links.

Beautiful shots, particularly that third one. Here it's a rich variety of colours in the trees. This year looks good.

Beautiful photos! I'm from California and in my part of the state, our autumn looks like yours. We've been in a drought for the last 3 or so years, and I cannot recall autumn in a normal year.

Fall is such an opportunity for great pictures,

Autumn is both my favorite and least favorite season. I love it but hate that it leads into winter (I do not like the cold!). Things are still pretty green here but the air has turned quite chilly and so I expect colors to come soon.

I love autumn, it's my favorite time of the year. Love your photos, can't wait to go to your neck of the woods next year :)
